Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or several days each week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab option.
