Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or a few days a week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial treatment option.
