Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time daily or a few days per week. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
