Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days each week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation alternative.
