TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will of course be asked to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehabilitation service, which can be organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient center is the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits regarding just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and process of recovery.
