A group home for someone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending people who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents within a group home could be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at one point live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, however it is a feasible short-term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together again.
