Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial treatment option.
