Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or several days a week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment choice.
