Someone that is LGBT may not feel safe inside a traditional treatment center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which have to be handled in order to get better. Treatment counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is definitely a frequent trigger for drug use, and it is a good example of something could be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life free of alcohol and drugs.
