Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehabilitation to address both mental health and addiction concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is a very common circumstance for those involved with substance abuse, as people who have mental health problems frequently self medicate with alcohol and drugs to to feel some form of short-term respite from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehabilitation professionals will help individuals using a comprehensive rehabilitation plan all aimed at restoring and stabilizing mental, physical and emotional health while also addressing alcohol and drug abuse concerns. Offering a safe environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can feel at ease and remain free from distraction from things that could cut across their program and progress. Treatment counselors will continue to work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things which have to be addressed in order for the person to stay mentally stable and sober t when they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab that helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so that they are better able to deal with life circumstances well after they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to alcohol and drugs as an inferior answer.
