Those who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This can be a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to alleviate this pain. A LGBT facility offers an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which must be handled in order to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for drug abuse, and it is a good example of a thing that would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and produce confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life free of alcohol and drugs.
