Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab option.
