Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab alternative.
