Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days per week. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
