Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for those who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
