TRICARE is medical health insurance which is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence like detox services, and also rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will of course be required to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits concerning how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very helpful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
