Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab option.
