Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be worthwhile in situations where traditional treatment facilities have fallen short, like coping with situations in a women's life that happen to be unique and distressing. Such concerns may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or other significant issues which are specific to women. Studies show that women could also become involved in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more vulnerable to sickness due to drug abuse problems than males as a result. Due to duties in their home, women also tend to postpone seeking out and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. That said, rehabilitation services for women are created to ensure a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Just like coed centers, drug rehabilitation programs which provide rehabilitation solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women target both basic and gender specific problems who have triggered their drug or alcohol use. Women also may take advantage of the constructive support from other female peers, and several centers which provide rehabilitation services to women also provide client beds for their kids.
