Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment alternative.
