Medicaid is a type of health insurance available for individuals who are in specific income brackets which qualifies them to obtain this government funded insurance coverage. Whether or not someone is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only determined by their earnings however, and individuals shouldn't presume they don't qualify just because they earn a reasonable income. For example, people who have quite a few dependents may be eligible for Medicaid even if they make what can be considered a reasonable income. Medicaid could also cover the expense of rehab, when someone has been abusing alcohol or drugs and needs rehabilitation. There are many drug and alcohol treatment programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have different rules for what kinds of rehabilitation are covered. Certain states only cover outpatient treatment services for instance while other states cover far more extensive rehabilitation such as a residential stay in long-term alcohol and drug rehab program. If anyone is involved with substance abuse and wants help, they are able to use their Medicaid insurance coverage to get this treatment. If they do not have Medicaid and in addition don't have the money or some other type of health care insurance to pay for rehab, they could determine if they qualify for Medicaid and then enroll in a drug rehabilitation center that is approved in their state.
