Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days per week. This is very helpful for those who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment choice.
