Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days a week. This is often helpful for those who have just completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which offer rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab option.
