Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time every day or several days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment choice.
