A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending those who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents within a group home may be taking part in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home to be able to at some time live on their own outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work.
