A group home for someone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home might be getting involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home to be able to at one point live independently outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, however it is a viable short-term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
