Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
