A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home might help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. Residents within a group home could be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or might be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at some time live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible temporary option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
