Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
