Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
