Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or several days a week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab option.
