Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs that provide treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
