LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is often a very difficult and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to numb this pain. Someone who is LGBT might not feel safe within a traditional rehab program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which need to be resolved so that they can get better. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is an example of a thing that would be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence in order to lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
