TRICARE is medical insurance that is offered to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would think, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be asked to get a prior approval before partaking in any type of treatment service, which is often organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits about how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very beneficial, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled treatment counselors standing by to help today.
