A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but additionally, there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home may be involved in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside of the group home.
