Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be beneficial in situations where conventional rehabilitation settings have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations within a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such difficulties may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, and other serious issues which can be particular to women. Research has shown that women can also get embroiled in substance abuse more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness because of dependency issues than males consequently. Similar to coed centers, alcohol and drug treatment centers which provide treatment solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both general and gender specific concerns which may have prompted their drug abuse. Women also benefit from the constructive support from other female peers, and several facilities that offer rehabilitation services to women provide client beds for her kids.
