Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which provide rehab to address both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Providing a safe and secure setting is essential to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can be comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances which could compromise their program and development. Rehabilitation counselors will work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which need to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and abstinen t once they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop more efficient coping methods so that they are able to better deal with life situations well if they depart dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to alcohol and drugs as a possible option.
