TRICARE is medical health insurance that is offered to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehabilitation services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally need to have a prior approval before taking part in any type of treatment service, which can be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program will be the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehab counselors standing by to help today.
