Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment alternative.
