Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
