Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in situations where standard rehab facilities have fallen short, including coping with situations in a women's life which are unique and distressing. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other significant issues that happen to be specific to women. Research has revealed that women may also become involved in drug use more easily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness as a result of addiction issues than males consequently. Due to responsibilities in the home, women also tend to put off searching for and receiving treatment, a situation which can lead to catastrophe. That said, rehabilitation services for women are designed so that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. After this step, counselors help women give attention to both general and gender-specific concerns who have induced their drug abuse. Women also utilize the positive support from other female peers, plus some facilities that provide rehabilitation services to women also provide client beds for her children.
