Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For a person with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
