Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver rehabilitation to address both addiction and mental health issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is a very common situation for folks involved in drug abuse, as people who have mental health problems often self medicate with alcohol and drugs to experience some sort of short-term respite from their disorder. Inside a dual diagnosis rehab, rehabilitation counselors can help people through a detailed treatment plan all targeted at restoring and replenishing mental, emotional and physical health as well as dealing with substance abuse concerns. Treatment counselors will work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things that have to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and sober t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment which will help them develop more efficient coping methods so they are better able to deal with life circumstances more effectively once they depart dual diagnosis rehab rather than returning to alcohol and drugs as an inferior answer.
