Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days a week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
