A group home for a person who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in a group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at some point live on their own not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, however it is a feasible short term option for many who want to get their lives back together.
