Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in situations where conventional rehabilitation settings have fallen short, such as coping with situations inside a women's life that are unique and distressing. Such difficulties may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or another serious issues which can be particular to women. Studies show that women can also become involved in substance abuse more easily than men, and are more vulnerable to illness as a consequence of addiction problems than males consequently.
