A group home for a person who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in the group home could possibly be taking part in treatment services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home to be able to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a practical temporary option for many who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
