A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which offers continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home might help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home may be getting involved in rehab services while in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at one point live independently outside the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a feasible temporary option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
