Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which deliver treatment to handle both addiction and mental health issues simultaneously. Providing a secure environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances that may compromise their program and advancement. Treatment counselors will continue to work to identify environmental factors in the client's life such as negative relationships or other things which must be addressed in order for the person to stay mentally healthy and abstinen t once they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation that helps them develop far better coping mechanisms so that they are able to better deal with life circumstances more proficiently after they leave dual diagnosis rehab rather than turning to alcohol and drugs as a possible solution.
