Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time each day or several days a week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
