Medicare is a form of medical insurance created by the federal government for senior citizens, in addition to individuals with certain disabilities and sicknesses. If someone that has Medicare needs rehabilitation for cases of drug or alcohol abuse, their treatment will either be covered fully by their Medicare insurance or to a great extent. The only exception is, the individual will have to receive treatment from a drugs and alcohol detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be allowed to start treatment, they will also have to visit their doctor who must state that rehabilitation services are medically necessary, and the doctor will generally approve what type of treatment the person will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover various kinds of rehabilitation providers. Medicare Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program if the individual should be hospitalized for their problem, and also the costs that they will have to pay for personally are identical to every other stay in a hospital. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient rehab in a Medicare accepted program, and the individual will need to cover whatever Medicare Part B doesn't cover with supplemental insurance coverage or they will have to self pay.
